Commercials are generally 15 seconds, 30 seconds or one minute in length. There are also extended versions of commercials known as "infomercials" that play for 30 minutes or 1 hour.

Commercials range in price by the time slot and area in which they play. Time slots during popular TV shows are more expensive than those during less popular shows. The area in which your commercial plays may be national, regional or local. National commercials play across the country, are the most expensive and are thus generally reserved for the largest of companies. Regional commercials play in one area of the country. Local commercials play only in local areas, and if it's playing on cable television, the cost is usually within reach of even the smallest local business.

Commercials are an extremely personal means of advertising. They allow potential customers to see your business at work with their own eyes and establish a connection with you that they don't have with your competition. Having a commercial running on TV gives customers confidence that your business is successful and therefore, a good investment for their time and money.
